Gott Bay was the venue today. Super-X was planned for us this afternoon so Martin and I took out brand new demo F2 Eliminator 103s in the morning, with 5.2/5.3s cos it was proper windy when we arrived. But inevitably the wind dropped just before launching, as a meaty rain shower passed over. So was underpowered. Pile of shite.

Afternoon - change of plan, freestyle not Super-X. The wind was really down now so hardly seemed worth bothering but anyway I rigged my 5.9 and stuck it on Martin's FSW84. My "freestyle" is practically non-existent, but buoyed with confidence from yesterday I was willing to give it a go. Got my kit down to the beach and found out that my heat was way off, and in any case the comp was currently postponed due to lack of wind. But there was a light breeze so I decided to have a go on some big demo kit, namely a F2 Eliminator 115 with a 6.7.

Aaaahhh much better. Planing comfortably for the first time today. But the board only had a single back strap so it was severe ankle-snapping stuff. Changed back to the F2E 103 (still with the 6.7), which earlier I had set up with double back straps. The wind had picked up a tad now and heats were being run, but I decided sod the freestyle I wanna blast around on the big kit. So spent the rest of the afternoon doing just that. I had to try and avoid the comp area during the heats that weren't mine, and then work out which was my heat, so I could sail into the comp area during it and attempt a duck gybe or summit. But actually I really didn't care too much, was great fun being powered up on the F2E, which is a seriously quick board...

The Super-X sausages were out...and they looked big! But right at the end I summed up the courage to try and jump one of them, and amazingly I almost cleared it! Not quite though, flopped onto it and crashed on the other side...but kewel fun! Really got me in the mood for the Super-X proper!
